New release of AltitudeCDN™ offers network administrators unprecedented control over video traffic on the corporate network

BOSTON, June 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Ramp, the leading provider of next-generation enterprise video delivery solutions for large enterprises, announced today a new release of AltitudeCDN™, the industry’s flagship enterprise content delivery network (eCDN). AltitudeCDN version 2.1 is the second release of the year for the highly-sought eCDN platform offering multicasting for live HTML5 video and intelligent caching for both live video and video on demand.

The latest enhancements to the product family are giving network administrators unprecedented control over the way video traffic streams across their corporate network. Highlights from this year’s product releases include:

Predictive Video Delivery with On-Demand Video Pre-Positioning
Large scale on-demand video events, such as pre-recorded executive messages or required training, can cause a temporary spike in bandwidth utilization. Now, instead of waiting for the first viewer requests to populate OmniCache instances, organizations can schedule videos to be pre-positioned to the caches during windows of low network activity. Not only are administrators better able to manage network resources, viewers also benefit from faster start times and flawless video playback.

Intelligent Sourcing for Even More Optimal Traffic Routing
The new OmniCache sourcing engine provides a mechanism to intelligently retrieve video from the most optimal source according to each organization’s network configuration. Video streams can even be sourced from another OmniCache, to further mitigate traffic across the corporate internet connection. This capability also improves redundancy by allowing multiple OmniCache nodes to be configured as the primary path to a video source and allowing fallback paths to groups of caches.

Upstream Video Routing Intelligence
This new option to override DNS resolvers adds a layer of upstream routing intelligence to OmniCache. For organizations using enterprise redirection for steering video requests to video sources and caching servers, this option allows administrators to specify an alternate set of DNS resolving servers for incoming requests.

Simplified Configuration for Multicast+ High Availability
Provisioning high availability coverage for live events is now easier than ever. By using the centralized management and monitoring interface, Altimeter, a group of Multicast+ senders is easily configured to provide high availability services with improved accuracy for these configuration options.

“Today’s enterprise communications strategies rely heavily on video to distribute information across the company. Enterprise content delivery networks (eCDNs) are critical enablers of these strategies,” said Alan MacLeod, VP of Product at Ramp. “The robust management capabilities of AltitudeCDN give network administrators powerful software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities for optimizing the way video travels across the corporate network to ensure a great quality of viewing experience while minimizing congestion and protecting the network.”

Ramp is the premier provider of common enterprise streaming infrastructure (CESI). With the average organization using multiple video platforms to support the wide variety of communications, AltitudeCDN™ eliminates the need to deploy a distinct delivery solution for each streaming platform. Ramp’s partnerships with leading enterprise streaming solution providers, including Microsoft, West, Brightcove and TalkPoint, represent the largest ecosystem of platforms verified and integrated with an eCDN solution.
