IXYS Expands its High Performance DT-Triac™ Product Range to 1.6KV

LEIDEN, Netherlands, Oct. 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:IXYS), a leader in power semiconductors and integrated circuit technologies for energy efficient products used in power conversion and motor control applications, announces today the expansion of its “Dual Thyristor-Triac” technology platform (DT-Triac™) for 1600V products.

Growing requirements in terms of robustness due to unstable mains and the use in the different world-wide voltage systems have increased the need for higher performance Triacs; therefore, in 2014, IXYS started its Triac platform, DT-Triac™. The base for these high performance Triacs is the IXYS advanced planar thyristor technology.

The new Triac product range has a superior ruggedness in the dv/dt and di/dt performance compared to the state-of-the-art Triacs. Limitations for the blocking voltage and the current ratings do not apply for the DT-Triac™ technology. The voltage ratings are available from 1200V up to 2200V and cover mains from 480V up to 690V. Current ratings range from a few amps to more than 1,000 amps. The wide package range of IXYS enables the designer to receive the optimized product for his application and design.

Presently IXYS has two new 1600V Triacs. Both products offer an 80 Amp rating, which is the best in class performance for Triacs in TO-247 package. While the CMA80MT1600NHB is offered with the standard TO-247 package, the CMA80MT1600NHR provides the same outline and pin compatibility but with a ceramic backside (DCB). The IXYS ISO247 package represents a high performance solution for a high and reliable power cycling with high isolation capability.
