Recently I had the chance to review the amazing Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Camera. This 720P HD camera retails for around $199.00 and has a superb battery life offering a lot of amazing features. The Logitech Broadcaster wirelessly transmits to Mac’s, iPhones’s, iPad’s or and iPod Touch. Unfortunately it doesn’t transmit to PC’s, it’s just works with Apple products. The webcam’s target market is mainly for video professionals, bloggers and hobbyists. The camera allows live streaming to UStream and allows users to have second-angle shooting. It’s also compatible with iMovie, FaceTime, iChat, Skype and more. It’s carrying case acts as a mini tripod / stand.
The design of the Logitech Broadcaster is absolutely sexy, and I mean sexy with a capital S. The top has your signal indicators for both battery, and wireless signal and a capture button. There are lens and a lamp at the front, mode and lamp buttons on the side and a power button and micro-USB port on the back and underneath it has a bump for the stand.
The stand is absolutely wonderful as it’s a case and stand all in one.
Once you install the camera on your Mac, it immediately starts to install and you can easily record to your Mac or stream to UStream. It’s just so easy to use. The UStream screen features a live stream view with 3x digital zoom, pan/tilt, a broadcast link, sharing options, battery life indicator, start/stop button, channel page access and social stream as well as chat integration. In other words, it’s loaded. One thing to note, the camera works really well even with Google Hangouts, so if you aren’t a UStream lover, that option is there, but ONLY for Mac, not iOS.
To set up on iOS, you have to download the Logitech Broadcaster application and then configure it to your wireless network in which you show your camera a QR code that contains your network configuration. You can then record your video to your iOS device, or configure the app to stream to UStream.
Overall, I highly suggest getting the Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi camera. It may hold a hefty price tag, but it’s well worth it. I plan to be heavily using the Logitech Broadcaster at CES in a few weeks, so you guys can have an eyes on at the quality as it’s absolutely amazing.
