Well, I finally got my iPhone 5S the other day after waiting almost two full months for it. I will be doing an iPhone 5S case review roundup soon on but one thing I would like to touch on is how to unlock your iPhone 5S.

I highly suggest unlocking your device for several reasons. First of all, you will get a higher resale value on your phone if it’s unlocked and secondly, the ability to roam the world with your phone, just purchase and pop in a SIM card with an applicable plan and you’re good to go. For unlocking devices, I only use one company and that is These guys are extremely professional and efficient in unlocking your devices. Last time, I unlocked a Galaxy S3 with them and their support staff helped me through it as I didn’t quite understand the unlocking procedure on my device. However, unlocking an iPhone 5S with can’t be any easier.

Unlocking my device cost me $109.99 to unlock it from Rogers Wireless in Canada, a pretty good deal I’d say. The steps to unlock are very easy, here they are.

First off, disable “Find my iPhone” on your iPhone’s iCloud settings. Next, go to, select your device, select the network and enter your phones IMEI number (you get this by dialing *#06# on your iPhone). It will search if the IMEI is valid and able to be unlocked, and then send you to the payment page. It took me 12 hours from purchase to get an email back from CellUnlocker stating my device is now ready for unlocking. registered my iPhones IMEI with Apple as an unlocked device and no matter how many updates of iOS I do, the phone will always be unlocked. Sweet!

You’re all going to be really surprised now at how easy the next bit is, how to actually unlock your iPhone.

  1. Install last version of iTunes
  2. Make sure phone is updated to the latest official version from iTunes
  3. Connect phone to iTunes with not accepted (not valid) SIM card
  4. Wait until iTunes detects phone
  5. Now disconnect phone and reconnect after 10 seconds
  6. Phone is Unlocked

  1. Insert a non accepted SIM card
  2. Connect phone to iTunes
  3. Perform a back-up (if necessary) then restore
  4. iTunes will display “Your Phone is Unlocked” (This message may not always appear)

NOTE : This is the only “lifetime” unlock solution for Apple iPhone as the IMEI is registered as “Unlocked” in Apple database. Your phone will always be unlocked even after each new update of your phone firmware ! Remember to re-enable “Find My iPhone” once you have unlocked your device. Unlocking your iPhone does not void any of your warranties, I checked this with a supervisor over at Apple, so if anyone is worried about unlocking your iPhone 5S for this reason, don’t be worried about it!

This worked with just one attempt and my iPhone was unlocked. I used the first method listed. Overall, I highly do suggest using to unlock your iPhone 5S as well as any other device that you may have. {rating}
