Over this past weekend, I had the opportunity to test out the new Black & Decker Steam Mop. It’s like a king built it, it’s tough, real tough. The steam mop really does the job and makes your floors spotless. Literally, I cleaned the house like I usually do, and I have wood floors, mopped it up with a damp cloth and some Mr. Clean, and I thought the floor was clean. Nope.

The Steam Mop really showed me that my floors are filthy, even after cleaning them and picked up a ton of dirt using it’s powerful steam technology. I found that by filling the tank and going to work with the Steam Mop, I was able to get between 15-20 minutes of clean time before I had to refill the tank.

What I really like about the Steam Mop is that it saves me money and does a way better job on cleaning. I don’t need to use a bottle of Mr. Clean to clean my floors, just the power of steam so you don’t damage your floors with chemicals or anything like that. I love the “Burst of Steam” feature which sends out 50% more steam to kill those hard stains, or if you really want to make sure it’s clean.

Here are some specs from Black & Decker’s site:

  • Kills 99.9% of germs using only water – no chemicals required. Great for homes with kids or pets.
  • With Digital SmartSelect Technology right in your hand, select the specific floor type – Wood/Tile/Stone – and the mop automatically releases the right amount of steam. Safe to use on sealed hardwood florrs.
  • Exclusive Lift&Reach Steam pad- remove the standard pad to access a triangular detail pad
  • Burst of Steam button releases Up To 50% more steam for tough stains*
  • The tank holds enough water for over twenty-two minutes of uninterrupted cleaning.

Technical Specifications

  • Watts 1500 W
  • Cord Length 25 ft
  • Pad 2 regular & 2 Lift & Reach
  • Capacity 15.6 oz.
  • Weight 5.5 lbs

It also comes with a 2 year warranty, which is useful. It has this feature on the handle, along with the Steam Burst feature to select what types of floor you have and are cleaning, to omit the correct amount of steam. Overall, I do highly recommend the Black & Decker Steam Mop. The version of this mop that I reviewed was the SmartSelect Steam Mop with Handle Command.
