Fitbug-Wow Scale

Fitbug, the world’s premier online health and wellness coach, will unveil Fitbug’s first Bluetooth Smart Ready scale that allows users to wirelessly sync their data in real time to their mobile device. There is no need to manually enter any results – and no excuse not to do a regular weigh-in.  Just stand on the scale and the Wow will effortlessly load the data to your personal profile.

The Wow scale is the first in a line of new devices by Fitbug that will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in Las Vegas next month. Visitors at the show will be able to experience how the Wow scale integrates with the updated fitbug.com website and mobile app. The scale works together with the Fitbug Air, the recently launched Bluetooth activity tracking device from Fitbug, allowing anyone to achieve their personal health goals through the latest in digital health technology.

“The introduction of the Fitbug Wow scale to our range of devices is a really exciting enhancement that will make it incredibly easy for our users to keep track of their weight on both fitbug.com and our activity app,” said Paul Landau, Fitbug’s Chief Executive Officer.”

“The Wow scale connects directly to your smartphone or tablet so it is far more user friendly than other wireless scales that rely on a Wi-Fi network. As with all of our devices, the Wow scale will form part of Fitbug’s personalized coaching services and will be available at an unbeatable price.”

The Wow scale syncs wirelessly with Bluetooth Smart Ready devices including iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad (3rd and 4th generation) and iPad Mini.  Wirelessly updating these stats in real time allows users to have all their health and well-being data in one place, allowing them to track their progress against weekly targets set by Fitbug.

The Wow scale is simple to use, allowing users to choose between pounds (lbs) and kilograms (kgs) and support multi-user profiles, so everyone in the family can take advantage of the easy upload to their Fitbug profile. As a Bluetooth low energy device, the Wow scale has a long battery life.

“Since 2005, Fitbug has successfully helped people across the globe improve their daily routines, simply by encouraging them to walk a little more and eat a little healthier,” said Landau. “The improvement in the health of our Fitbug members has exceeded even our expectations, and we are using the knowledge we’ve acquired over the past eight years to create devices that make it even easier for our members to track every element of their lifestyle. Using this data together we can create a better picture of their health and provide the advice they need to improve this.”

The Fitbug Wow scale is priced at $79.99 apiece, or $119.99 if purchased as a bundle with the Fitbug Air tracker, and will be available from www.fitbug.com at the end of March 2013. The Fitbug Air tracker is currently available for purchase online for $59.99, which includes enrollment into the company’s premium personalized coaching program for 12 months.

I love the sound of these Wow scales. The fact I can receive my activity data and my weight all on the one app is great and much easier than needing different wireless methods for different devices.
