Review: Intova IC 12 Digital Camera

Intova’s IC 12 is the companies newest and fastest waterproof digital camera. It has a 1/2000th second shutter speed and a state of the art digital processor. It’s made for shooting objects underwater that are very fast, such as fish.

Equipped with a 3X Optical Zoom, a 2.36 LCD screen as well as a Lithium Ion battery that can be recharged quickly through the camera, the IC 12 has everything you need. The flagship feature of the IC 12, isn’t the camera, however, it’s the waterproof housing that you can purchase with the IC 12.

The external housing is submersible up to 180 feet and feels and looks like a well made product. Easy to use, providing quick access to all the camera’s features. Even better, the 46 mm lens barrel thread allows consumers to add on filters and wide angle lenses.

One huge downside, is that the IC 12 is a major battery sucker. Thankfully, it uses rechargeable batteries. If it was one of those AA/AAA battery cameras, I would not suggest it.

Underwater shots were fantastic. So crystal clear, beautiful, and detailed. The design of the camera is very simple. I mean, when you first look at it, it looks cheap. It doesn’t have the “sleek” design that high end cameras have.

Cool features the IC 12 has are face detection, which tracks faces and focuses automatically. It also optimizes exposures which in return, create sharp, amazing portrait pictures. As with most cameras, it has anti-shake capability, to reduce blurry images. There is a 32 MB internal memory, but it also accepts SD/SDHC cards, and even the Eye-Fi card, up to 16 GB. It supports HD video recording as well.

Here are some key features of the IC 12

• Rugged polycarbonate full function housing

• Fujitsu digital signal processor for fast processing speed

• Shock absorbent gasket inside housing protects camera

• Double O-ring design for added leak protection

• Depth tested to 180′ (54.86m)

• Pocket-sized removable inner camera

• 12.0 megapixel sensor

• Camera features anti-shake and face detection

• HD video mode

• 3X optical and 4X digital zoom

• 3″ display for easy on-camera viewing

• The camera is powered by a Lithium-ion battery that is rechargeable through the USB port

Overall, I am going to give the IC 12 a 4/5 rating. 4/5 being the design of the camera, menu interface, and battery life can be greatly improved to compete with today’s standards. For more information, please visit http://www.intova.net
